MARV quartet was born as a result of the reunion of multiple experiences with improvisation as a common ground, formed by Miguel Barella (guitar and effects), Alex Antunes (vocals, percussion, recordings, effects), Rodrigo Gobbet (bass) and Vitor Trindade (percussion and vocals). Grandson of Solano Trindade, Vitor combines the ancestrality of afro-brazilian chants and rhythms with free improvisations and electronic manipulations. Miguel Barella and Alex Antunes, in turn, took part in historical post-punk bands like Akira S, Voluntários da Pátria and Gang 90, before reuniting through improvisation, which is Rodrigo Gobbet’s field, although his roots are in body-moving black music. In musical terms, MARV is composed of provocative processed guitars, samples and tapes with the rhythms of poetic, radiophonic or theatrical words with percussion. For this show, they invite Lelo Nazario, Grupo Um’s keyboardist and composer, a unique character in jazz and Brazilian experimental music.
