The animation portrays the love story between young pianist Chico and singer Rita, who meet on stage at Havana (Cuba) in the late 40’s. After a passionate night, Rita becomes shocked by the presence of Juana, one of Chico’s girlfriends and, moved by jealousy, betrayal and misunderstandings, decides to leave Cuba for New York and try a new start with her music. Deeply in love, Chico decides to go after the singer, and in the midst of his search meets jazz masters like Thelonious Monk, Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie Parker, Tito Puente and Chano Pozo. Winner of the Goya Award for Best Animated Film in 2011 and nominated for the Oscar for Best Animated Feature in 2012.
